Florida licensing boards and employers require fingerprints processed through the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE). If you live in Oregon, you do not need to travel: you can be printed electronically by an out-of-state Florida Live Scan provider, and your prints go straight to Florida.

- Florida teachers and school employees
- Healthcare workers and facility staff screened through the Florida Care Provider Background Screening Clearinghouse
- Real estate, insurance, mortgage and other license applicants
- Nurses and other health professions
- Attorneys applying to the Florida Bar
- Guardians, volunteers and others working with children or vulnerable adults
What to bring to your appointment
- The ORI number for the agency requesting your check. This tells FDLE where to send the results. Your licensing board or employer provides it.
- Any Originating Agency or screening instructions, such as a Clearinghouse request
- A current government photo ID
- Your Social Security number and basic personal details
Using the wrong ORI is one of the most common mistakes. The results go to the wrong agency, and you may have to pay and print again. Double-check the number before your appointment.
How out-of-state Florida Live Scan works
- Your prints are captured on a digital Live Scan device, with no ink card.
- The submission is sent electronically to FDLE with your agency’s ORI.
- You receive a Transaction Control Number (TCN). Keep it to track your results.
- FDLE and the FBI run the checks, and results go directly to the requesting agency.

Live Scan vs. a Florida hard card
Some Florida agencies also accept an FD-258 ink card from out-of-state applicants. Live Scan is usually faster and less likely to be rejected. Check your agency’s instructions to see which methods it accepts.
